Electrolux Washer - E45 Error Code

The control board’s door lock circuit has failed.

Meaning

The control board’s door lock circuit has failed.

The Electrolux E45 error code indicates a failure in the control board’s door lock control circuit. Unlike E40–E44, which relate to mechanical or wiring issues with the door lock assembly, E45 points directly to an internal fault on the main control board (PCB). This includes burned triacs, damaged relays, failed logic components, or internal short circuits. Because the washer cannot reliably control or monitor the door lock, it will not start or continue a cycle. E45 is considered a severe error and almost always requires control board replacement.

Symptoms

  • Washer will not start any cycle
  • Door lock may not activate or may activate inconsistently
  • E45 appears immediately after powering on or pressing Start
  • Washer may freeze or become unresponsive

Causes

  • Failed door lock triac on the control board
  • Burned or damaged PCB traces
  • Internal short circuit on the control board
  • Moisture intrusion affecting the board
🔧

Step-by-Step Fixes

  • Inspect wiring to the door lock to rule out external shorts.
  • Check for signs of moisture or corrosion near the control board.
  • Replace the main control board (PCB), as E45 is not repairable in most cases.
⚠️

Safety Notes

  • Disconnect power before accessing internal electronics.
  • Do not attempt to repair the PCB unless you are qualified to work with electronic components.

Model-Specific Notes

On EFLS-series washers, E45 commonly appears after a door lock actuator short that damages the control board’s triac circuit.
